About the artist

AKA: HOW I GOT HERE …

Once upon a time, I was an adult ICU and NICU nurse. As a critical care nurse, I lived in a world of extremes. I bore witness to life and death, to immeasurable joy and earth-shattering pain. Like so many healthcare professionals, I found myself endlessly stressed and overwhelmed. It was then that I realized that, if I wanted to make it through life intact, I needed to find an outlet.

Thus began my journey of self-care through art. After much study and experimentation with different media and techniques, I found that abstract mixed media was what spoke to my soul. I loved the process of working intuitively with different materials, on different substrates, and using a variety of techniques to achieve depth through texture and layers. I find the nature of abstract art fascinating in that it invites viewers to reflect upon their interpretations of the work, as viewed through the lens of their own life experiences.

Now I strive to create pieces that illustrate my personal narrative of nurturing, resilience, pain, and love … pieces that display the transformative and healing power that I discovered within art and creativity.

Born and raised in Arkansas, I’ve moved around quite a bit as an adult. After stops in Colorado, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Portland, and multiple cities in the Lonestar state, I finally settled in Sugar Land, TX with my husband and our young son.
